Performance Benchmarking

Performance Benchmarking

Etio evaluates how financial resource decisions impact the student experience and educational outcomes. Our Performance Benchmarking tool provides evidence-based insights into the correlation between financial resourcing choices and student success. By combining our robust financial benchmark analysis with both quantitative and qualitative data on the student experience and educational outcomes, we provide a comprehensive view of the return on investment compared to sector-wide standards.

Our evidence-based service offer insight into best practices for resource allocation, efficiency, effectiveness, student satisfaction, and ROI specific to your institution's sector. We show you what success looks like and provide the data and analysis to understand how to achieve it. Our expertise helps you make informed decisions that will enhance the overall student experience and educational outcomes.

Benchmark the student experience

The quality of the student experience is evaluated and benchmarked by our Student Barometer surveys (international students only, or domestic and international students). This gives you student satisfaction scores across the entire student journey, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement, and benchmarking you against your regional and global competitors.

Alternatively, we can substitute the Student Barometer data with student outcome/success data to focus on how your resourcing and investment is impacting the quality of student outcomes.

Benchmark cost-base and resource allocation

Our Financial Benchmarking expertise gives you the granular detail and analysis for all your operations, benchmarked against your chosen group of institutions. As with all our benchmarking projects, you get a full report into the findings from up to 750 benchmarks, as well as access to the online reporting portal, allowing you to interrogate the data further. In this respect, you can realise all the benefits of a stand-alone financial benchmarking exercise.

Determine resource investment that improves student satisfaction/outcomes

Performance Benchmarking takes your financial analysis and overlays it with your student experience/outcomes data to give that all-important view of return on investment.

We help universities improve the student experience and financial sustainability of operations. Looking at resource allocation alongside student satisfaction scores tells you where to prioritise investment. For example, your Financial Benchmarking analysis tells you that the library costs 10% more than benchmark; the student satisfaction score for the library is 7% lower than benchmark. Combined, the data tells you exactly which areas need improving – by revealing those areas where return on investment is weakest.

Our evidence-based, sector comparative benchmarks show your institution what good practice looks like in terms of resourcing, efficiency, effectiveness, student satisfaction and return on investment. It helps answer the questions:

  • How does your cost-base and resource allocation compare to that of your competitors?
  • How does your students’ experience compare to other institutions?
  • How do you improve both of these comparative positions?
  • Where can you improve the ROI by reallocating resources?
  • And how much should a satisfied student cost your institution?
