Education Transformation

Internal Self Review

Schools and the organisations that support them are never short of change initiatives or improvement efforts. However, what is often lacking is the ability for schools to understand in depth the root causes behind the things that make their schools great and those that limit their growth. While third party evaluations are an essential component to school review, internal assessment empowers stakeholders within the school community to make decisions that align with the schools’ understandings and available resources.

Our collaborative Strength and Needs Assessment (SNA) process helps schools take an expansive look into areas within the schools that will lead to opportunities for deeper learning and to measure the school’s progress through a broader set of competencies.

We collaboratively facilitate a process WITH schools to build the capacity of their administrators, teachers, parents, students and other key stakeholders to identify the school’s strength and needs to foster school improvement. The outcome is to facilitate a process to help schools:

  • Gain a deep understanding of the content/context of the school
  • Use that knowledge to think critically to solve complex problems
  • Communicate effectively
  • Collaborate with others, and
  • Learn how to learn, in order to make progress needed for all students to succeed.

Review of School system of processes

Etio's collaborative Strength and Needs Assessment (SNA) process equips school leaders with invaluable tools to enhance school success. It helps schools identify instructional issues, known as a Problem of Practice (PoP), that can significantly improve student learning. This process promotes collaboration among teachers, encouraging dialogue about best practices for lesson preparation, student engagement, and creating equitable classrooms. Through this process, schools can develop structures for self-assessment and improvement, leading to meaningful transformations in teaching practice and student outcomes. With the aid of evidence-based tools for reflection and improvement, Etio empowers school leaders to drive meaningful enhancements that benefit both students and staff.

Classroom / School Wide Observations

Etio’s Effective Learning Observation (ELO) approach offers school leaders a powerful tool to enhance teaching quality and student learning. It focuses on recognizing and analysing the diverse ways students demonstrate learning. Through real-time observations and data collection, ELO helps leaders identify key trends and areas for improvement in education delivery. This approach supports enhanced collaboration among educators, fosters a shift in mindset towards continuous improvement, and aligns staff on what constitutes quality teaching and learning. Ultimately, ELO empowers school leaders with the insights needed to plan and implement targeted strategies for educational excellence, ensuring a supportive and effective learning environment for all students.

Focus Groups with parents, teachers and students

Etio's process is tailored to empower school leaders by enhancing transparency and fostering open, collegial discussions within focus groups. By maintaining anonymity, the process ensures that all participants, including students, families, and staff, can freely express their views without the fear of hierarchy, thus providing school leaders with genuine, unfiltered insights into the school's operational dynamics.

These insights are crucial for leaders to understand diverse perspectives and identify areas of improvement, ultimately leading to a more inclusive and effective educational environment. The structured protocol not only streamlines communication but also equips leaders with a clear understanding of performance, perceptions, and existing pain points, allowing for informed decision-making and impactful leadership.

Review of School Data

Our service trains your team to extract and utilize pertinent data related to student achievement, supporting strategic decision-making. We focus on practical, varied data sources, from standardized tests to student work analysis, to provide in-depth insights into teaching, learning, and leadership. This enables a comprehensive understanding of your school’s current state, aiding future progress monitoring.

We help in selecting research-based resources that fit your school model and context, and establish systems for regular data administration, collection, and analysis. We also facilitate transparent data usage processes, involving all stakeholders in decision-making. Our consultants train school-based teams to conduct effective focus groups, ensuring everyone can freely express their views. This approach offers unfiltered insights into school dynamics, aiding in identifying improvement areas, and ultimately fostering a more inclusive, effective educational environment.

Review of Interviews with key stakeholders

Our service offers school leaders a strategic approach to enhance educational outcomes and operational efficiency. Through precise data collection via learning observations, focus group discussions, and comprehensive documentation, we provide invaluable insights into educational trends and improvement areas. This analysis aids in identifying strengths and weaknesses, using both quantitative and qualitative data, allowing you to align your school’s performance with established benchmarks. The outcome is a set of tailored recommendations and strategies, designed to foster an environment of continuous improvement and academic excellence. Engage with our collaborative review process to make informed decisions that propel your school towards success.

Detailed school level report

Our service empowers school leaders by providing detailed, actionable reports that facilitate informed decision-making and promote school advancement. These reports, crafted from comprehensive analysis and stakeholder feedback, are tailored to address your unique needs, ensuring relevance and practicality. Our consensus scoring system guarantees that all decisions are well-rounded and objective, while the prioritisation of recommendations by impact and feasibility maximizes their effectiveness.

Rigorous quality assurance aligns each report with your school’s goals, and by involving you actively in the process, we ensure accuracy and strategic dissemination among stakeholders. This enables you to implement strategies that enhance educational outcomes and operational efficiency, driving continuous improvement and academic excellence in your school.

Feedback sessions

Our review team provides a collaborative and transparent review process that empowers school leaders. This process fosters skill development and trust through regular information sharing, allowing leaders to compare insights with the review team before final decisions. The lead reviewer from Etio aids in analyzing data and feedback to create comprehensive preliminary findings, highlighting the school's strengths and areas for improvement. School leaders receive a final report within 20 days to review and correct inaccuracies, ensuring a comprehensive and fair review. This system has successfully enabled school and teacher leaders to articulate new initiatives, demonstrate their impact through data and feedback from professional learning experiences, and prepare for future inspections. The focus is on co-creation and transparency throughout the review process, culminating in beneficial outcomes for school leadership.
